I took my 18-month-old daughter to the park near our house, and there was a group of daycare kids there playing. A small group of them gathered around us.
“Who she?” asked one little girl, perhaps 3 or 4 years old.
“That’s Mia,” I answered.
“Who you?” she wondered.
“I’m Mia’s Daddy,” I said.
She looked at us for a long time, and then said, “I want a Daddy.”
Dude, that is so sad.

I cried on the way home.
Isn’t it a shame some people think buying their kids a toy is better than playing catch or showing an interest in them.
Thanks for the reminder!
